In July 2023, the CDC tasked recipients of its Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) with integrating health equity into their work. While much of the literature frames health equity in terms of race, ethnicity, and language, these factors were not predominant in the rural communities participating in the ScreeND program. To gain insights into the barriers affecting colorectal cancer screening in rural North Dakota communities, face-to-face discussions were conducted with twelve health systems, representing eighteen clinics, between October 11, 2023, and January 4, 2024. These conversations yielded fresh ideas for addressing colorectal cancer screening within clinics and provided guidance for the development of new tools and resources by the ScreeND program.
